Take a Virtual Tour
of our City and
Pray for Portland!

Jesus Day is an annual world-wide event (birthed out of and coordinated by the March For Jesus National Office) and it is celebrated in cities around the world.  The first Jesus Day was held on June 10, 2000.  The next Jesus Day is May 18, 2002.  Mission Portland works closely with Rick Christman in coordinating each year's events.  This year a Prayer Rally will be held at 4pm at the Portland Korean Church, located on SW 10th and Clay in downtown Portland, followed by a Can Food Drive for the Sunshine Division from 4pm-6pm  and a March for Jesus starting from and ending at Lincoln High School from 5pm-6pm, with Free ministry Booths at the Lincoln High School Football Field from 5pm to 8pm.  To participate call Rick at 503-227-8351.

What is Jesus Day?

The vision for Jesus Day is a day on earth as it is in heaven. No one goes hungry, no child is fatherless, no one suffers alone, and the streets are filled with singing.  Jesus Day promotes a lifestyle of doing what Jesus did by providing an entry-level experience of serving the community in Jesus name. By joining with believers all around the world and throughout the community, individuals and congregations demonstrate the gospel through millions of acts of kindness and deliver a strong message about how much God loves the world.

If you ask people on the street three simple questions: What was Jesus like? What are Christians like? What could Christians do to be more like Jesus? People would say that Christians could be more like Jesus by being more compassionate, feeding the hungry, caring for the poor and marginalized, reaching out to the suffering. Jesus Day deals with the discrepancy between Christ and Christianity by asking believers to get out and do what Jesus did.

A Day of Service and Celebration

A Day of Service - Jesus Day is a day when Christians of all denominations will unite in taking God's love beyond church walls. Your church can plan a social action or outreach project or join with an existing effort in your community.  The goal is every church and every Christian somehow involved in serving the community on Jesus Day.

A Day of Celebration - Jesus Day ends with a celebration of Jesus Christ-the hope of the new Millennium. It is a celebration led by the churches for the entire community. The Millennium Chorus is a musical presentation that is representative of various generations and cultures. It will be used around the world on Jesus Day. The goal is a joyful musical celebration led by a citywide choir and orchestra made up of combined choirs, singers, and musicians from all of the various churches. Make sure your church is involved.
